There is no more P90X Recovery Drink. It has been replaced by Recover from the Beachbody Performance line. Check out my Beachbody Performance review if you want to know about Recover and the other supplements.
**Original Review Below**
I had done 2 rounds of P90X before I decided to buy the P90X Recovery Drink. Was hesitant to buy it because I thought the Whey Protein I was using was sufficient enough to help repair the muscles I just worked on.
A friend of mine who introduced me to P90X said I had to give it a try for at least 30 days. Tony Horton talks about it in the workouts all the time so it has to be good right? It can’t just be another way for Beachbody to make money pushing supplements on us can it?
So I decided to buy it and use it after doing P90X Legs and Back with Ab Ripper X. There is something about that P90X workout which always makes my legs, hamstrings, back, and butt sore as hell for at least 3 days. After finishing the workout I added two scoops of the P90X Recovery Drink to some water and drank it up. The first thing I noticed was that it tasted very good. After finishing it I went about my day.
What Results Did You Get From The P90X Recovery Drink?
The next morning I felt a little different, like better different. Usually, the soreness is very noticeable from P90X Legs & Back and today it was still there but not nearly as much. Later that day I did P90X Kenpo X and used the P90X Recovery Drink again. The next day was an off day and I usually still feel the full effect of Legs and Back along with soreness from throwing punches and kicks. The results were much different. There were subtle hints of soreness from Legs and Back and not nearly as much from Kenpo X.
Sticking with it over the next 30 days had some lasting effects. I noticed that soreness would last half as long as before which gave me the energy to push a little harder during the workouts. The downside to this was that I could not make up any excuses as to being too sore to workout that day and needing a day to rest. I was sold.
Do You Use The P90X Recovery Drink After Other Activities?
I ended up buying the P90X Recovery Drink and using it after running, skiing, snowboarding, softball tournaments, pretty much any strenuous workout. I purchased the tub version on Home Direct to get free shipping and another one in the packet version so I could bring with me on trips.
Its been more than just a after workout drink and is much better than having a scoop of Whey Protein in water when finishing. The recovery time has been cut in half because of it and that means a lot since I’m getting older can’t recover as fast as I could when I was younger.
There are a couple ways to buy the P90X Recovery Drink. You can pay retail prices at the Beachbody Store or sign up for the Beachbody Club and save 10%. I recommend you sign up as Beachbody Coach and take advantage of the 25% discount along with free shipping on Home Direct as that is the best way to buy the P90X Recovery Drink.
I received the new P90X Recovery Drink today as part of my monthly shipment of goodies from Beachbody. I heard about the improvements to it at the Success Club meeting in Dallas a couple months ago and am excited to start using it.
What’s New About The P90X Recovery Drink?
The formula now has all natural flavors and sweeteners in it with no fructose and it now contains some fancy natural six-carbon sugar thingy called dextrose. I’ll take your word for it Beachbody.
What About The New P90X Recovery Drink Nutrition Facts?
The things I can figure out are on the label on the back. The new P90X Recovery Drink has 1 less gram of total fat per serving but .5 grams more of saturated fat per serving than the old P90X Recovery Drink. At 1 gram of total fat and less than 1 gram of saturated fat per serving I think we’ll be ok.
Cholesterol per serving dropped 10 mg from 30 to 20 and Potassium went up 8mg to 155 mg per serving. Everything else pretty much stayed the same besides what I think is the most important one, the sugar. The new P90X Recovery Drink dropped 10 g from 36g to 26g per serving. I’ve always thought this was the one thing that could be improved with the P90X Recovery Drink.
The product does what it says it will do for sure but my teeth always felt sticky / sugary after using it. It was very common for me to brush my teeth 10 minutes after drinking it. If this goes away then Beachbody would have done a good job making a great product even better.
Also, thanks for not increasing the price of the P90X Recovery Drink on me Beachbody.
