Off To Cancun Mexico

January 23, 2009 - Updated January 23, 2009

I’ll be heading down to Cancun, Mexico for the next week with my folks and my girlfriend. I love the snow because I ski and snowboard. Unfortunately, here in Michigan, the mountains are hills and not that enjoyable to somebody who has lived in Colorado and been to places like Heavenly, Kirkwood, Vail, Jackson Hole, Whistler Blackcomb, and Mt. Hood to name a few. The weather has been really cold the last two weeks. A change from this:

for a week should not be all that bad. I spend most of my time in the ocean boogie boarding. I should be in good enough shape from doing P90X all the time to handle the waves again this year. There is a strong under tow right in front of our resort and it takes a lot out of me every year. Swimming in the ocean for 7 days, doing some running on the beach, and a round of golf will be my workouts for the week. Hopefully I don’t blind anybody with my non tanned Beach Body. Bring on the Mexican food, cervezas, and Margaritas. Will probably be a week until I update the site. Don’t miss me.

How Much Space Do You Need For P90X

January 23, 2009 - Updated November 30, 2018

Over the past couple of days I have received some e-mails asking how much space is needed to do the P90X workout. This is a good question.

When people think about working out at home they usually think about big home gyms that lay around taking up a bunch of space and sit around as an eye sore for years. The good thing about P90X is you really don’t need that much space.

Here is a photo of the small area I do P90X in.

Space Needed For P90X

As you can see from the photo there is not a whole lot of space that I workout in. Its actually the second floor landing area at the top of the stairs outside my bedroom. The photo was taken from the doorway of another room in the house. I would say this area is about 7″ x 10.”

You can also see I have everything you need to do P90X with.

Its not the greatest place to workout but it works for me. A lot of the workouts done with P90X don’t involve a lot of moving around anyways. Plyometrics is the only workout I do not do in that area but its not to say that I couldn’t. Its just that the ceilings here are about 8 feet tall and I would be touching them every time I jumped.

I keep all of my workout equipment like the pull up bar, resistance bands, dumbbells, push up stands, and P90X DVDs in my room. They take up very little space. The Bowflex Selecttech Dumbbells are on a stand which makes them easy to roll around but I usually just walk over to the weight rack in between exercises to get a new weight without having to stop the DVD. I use my laptop to play the DVDs so I am not stuck to one area of the house on a TV.

So don’t feel like you need a lot of space to do P90X with. As you can see from my “home gym” you can get by with a small amount of area. If you live in an apartment, have small rooms in your house, or a college kid living in a dorm I am sure you can find the space available to do the P90X workout.

Hopefully this photo will put you at ease if you were going to buy P90X but were concerned about it taking up a lot of floor space. Its not that much at all. Even better is that it takes me about 1 minute to set everything up and take it down.

The P90X Affiliate Program

January 16, 2009 - Updated December 3, 2018

P90X Affiliate ProgramI receive a couple emails or comments a week from people trying to find out about the P90X affiliate program. People look all day for some place to sign up but just can’t find it. And the reason is because there is no P90X affiliate program.

Beachbody wanted to do something different from a traditional affiliate program where you put banners on your health or fitness related website and earn money when people click on those and buy something.

What they came up with is the Beachbody Coach opportunity.

What Is It?

Straight up, it’s a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) or sometimes called Network Marketing program. So what are you thinking right now? Everything you’ve ever heard about MLM’s is bad, right? They are pyramid schemes and people get ripped off, right? It’s a scam, right?

The problem is most people who get involved in those fail because they were expecting to make a quick buck and never put in the effort. It’s the truth. If you don’t treat it like a business then it will never become a business.

Its Sort Of A Affiliate Program

Beachbody, the company that makes P90X, set up the Beachbody Coach business opportunity because thousands of people who used their products achieved awesome results. Friends, family, and co-workers would notice their results and ask them what they are doing.

The person would refer them to Beachbody. People started calling in to Beachbody asking if they had a P90X affiliate program as so many people were sending business to them.

Beachbody took it one step further and created the coach opportunity to make a “P90X business” and not just an affiliate program.

Beachbody decided to reward those people who treat it like a business and let them keep their customers. It’s no secret that P90X works. Why would you ever want to join an affiliate program for a one and done commission payment when you can build a business and get paid multiple times from the same person?

Here comes the news you probably did not want to hear. It costs money to join!!

There’s a $39 sign up fee to start and a $15 fee every 5 weeks which covers order fulfilment, customer service, shipping, warehousing, and any other admin thing you don’t want to do. No inventory either.

It also covers the $70 MILLION in advertising Beachbody is spending a year branding their products. You get to “piggy back” off of it as everybody has heard of their products.

Its Better Than A P90X Affiliate Program

To be honest, Beachbody actually has an affiliate program with CJ.com. You can promote Beachbody products like P90X and earn 10% on each sale. A very traditional way.

What’s different with the Beachbody Coach route is you earn 25% on each sale plus you get to keep the customer name. This is huge as many people come back to buy nutritional products like Shakeology giving you future commissions from the same customer.

You can see how much more profitable it is to go this route over the traditional affiliate program. The sign up and monthly fee are peanuts in the long run.

Network Marketing Only If You Want To

You are not required to sponsor new people or get into the network marketing side of promoting P90X. Go right ahead and promote the products only if you want. Maybe some of your customers will want to sign up on their own in the future.

If you see the value in starting a “P90X Business” over being a P90X affiliate then I want you to know that I am here to help.

If you currently run a health/fitness website, are looking for a work from home business, or looking for a way to promote some great health products and make some money then being a Beachbody Coach is the way to go.

If you have questions please contact me. I’ll reply asap. I hope this article helps you in deciding to be a Beachbody Coach over looking for a basic P90X affiliate program.

I Hit A Jump On Snow Blades And Wiped Out

January 13, 2009 - Updated January 13, 2009

This past Saturday I went to Pine Knob with a couple friends of mine to go and rage out on the slopes. I don’t know if you can call it raging in Michigan because you spend more time on the chair lift then you do the slopes. It was still a great day of skiing. We had a snow storm which dropped about 5 inches of snow through out the day and into the night which made for some of the best skiing in Michigan I have seen. It was not cold or windy and the snow was powder. Very enjoyable to say the least. It reminded us of when we take our annual “mancation” out west to go skiing and the types of snow we see out there.

When its a powder day I prefer to snowboard. There is very little work needed to be done on 3 inches of snow when your on a board. On ski’s its a little bit different. I grew up skiing and took up snowboarding 4 years ago. I’m ok on the board but my confidence is lower when its icey. If there is ice I am on my skis.

For Christmas this year my girlfriend bought me a pair of snow blades. I had wanted a pair because I saw other people doing wicked sweet tricks on them and having a good time. Plus, normal skiing in Michigan does not get me excited anymore. Sure I could practice more on the board but my next step on the board is the terrain park, but let’s take it one step at a time.
[phpzon]snowblades ski, 2[/phpzon]

After boarding for about 3 hours I ran back to my car and put on my snowblades. It feels like your not even on them when your going down the hill. On to the small terrain park. My buddy Dave brought his video camera to document anything awesome that happens. On my first run I hit a jump then went over a box rail and landed it no problem. Next time I went over I landed the box rail but my ski popped off and I wiped out. It got me thinking that these little skis cannot handle all of my weight coming down on them so hard.

We headed over to the big terrain park and I was feeling ready to hit some of the bigger jumps and get some air. I hit the first kicker and landed it no problem. On my approach to the second jump I checked my speed and hit it. Well, I landed the jump right at the point where it goes from the flat part of the gap to the down slope. No problem if I was on big skis but the snow blades could not handle it. As soon as I hit both snow blades flew off. It was ice that I landed on so of course I slid face first and smacked my chest off of it. It knocked the wind out of me. First time I had ever had both skis come off of me after a jump. If I would have been going about another 1 mph faster I would have landed on the down slope and would have been fine. Next time I need to go faster.

I finished the night of skiing but I was sore as hell yesterday. It must have been a bigger impact then what I thought. My whole upper body felt like it had whip lash. Dave was filming it and when he gets the video uploaded I will update this post so you all can laugh with me.

I found some videos on YouTube showing the same exact thing that happened to me.

This is just cool. I guess I am gonna have to try this.

The Holidays Did A Number On Me

January 5, 2009 - Updated January 5, 2009

Happy 2009 everybody. Thank goodness 2008 is over. I really could not think of a more depressing year than 2008. The economy sucks, real estate prices dropped every where. People lost their jobs (including me) and then could not find jobs (me again) and the State of Michigan (where I live) is going down the pipes because of Ford, GM, and Chrysler. Don’t get me started about the year my beloved (not anymore) Detroit Lions had. Can’t get off track here because Workout Journey is all about living a healthy lifestyle. Dwelling on past events is not healthy so no more of that.

The holidays were a lot of fun this year. My family reconnects with a lot of friends and we always go to a lot of parties…probably too many parties. If I remember correctly, there was only one day that I did not go or do anything from Christmas to New Years. During that time I did get in a couple workouts like P90X Chest and Back and some running. Besides that it was tough for me to get the energy to do that much more. I still was able to find time to get in 4 workouts so all in all it was not that bad. I just was so tired from activities that happened at night. Mainly the partying. I need a week off from that stuff. In hind site, it does feel great to know that I have a good group of freinds and family members who like to get together and have a good time especially knowing what’s going on in Michigan.

On that note, its time to get back on the horse and start working out again. I probably (I did) put on a couple pounds from all of the food and drinks I consumed and those need to come off ASAP.

Anyways, Happy New Year again and I hope 2009 brings about it prosperity and a wicked sweet year to you.
