Day 30 – INSANITY – Fit Test #2

August 31, 2009 - Updated November 29, 2018

I just completed my second Insanity Fit Test and I am very pleased. Here is a comparison of my first Insanity Fit Test results with this time.

Fit Test #1 Fit Test #2 Fit Test Goals
Switch Kicks 125 134 150
Power Jacks 45 53 54
Power Knees 84 95 100
Power Jumps 31 38 37
Globe Jumps 8 10 10
Suicide Jumps 13 16 16
Push-Up Jacks 25 32 30
Low Plank Oblique 50 64 60

There are two positive things that have happened here. I did not get worse at any move. And the other is I already hit my goals for 5 out of the 8 exercises.

Did I set them too low? Is Insanity such a awesome workout program that the results came quicker? We will find out in the next 30 days when I take my last fit test. I was so close to hitting the goals for the other ones.

I have been putting in the effort with Insanity. Not only am I doing the workouts but I am also following the Insanity Elite Nutrition Plan. Doing these two has helped drop my body fat percentage from 10% to 8% in only 30 days. That is pretty crazy.

For the first time ever I can see my oblique muscles. Who knows, maybe I’ll have ripped 6 pack abs in 30 days.

Oh, and if you watched my first Insanity Fit Test video you would notice we painted our room from an adobe color to a more soothing yellow.

Workout Review For 8-3-09 To 8-9-09

August 10, 2009 - Updated August 10, 2009

Willis TowerMonday (8/3/09) Day Off – We were driving back from our trip to Illinois State Park. We stopped at the Willis Tower to check it out. I was a little nervous walking out on to the Sky Deck.

Tuesday (8/4/09) Insanity Cardio Power & Resistance – With the time I took off last week I felt like I had lost a couple days and almost like I was starting over. I could barely make it through.

Wednesday (8/5/09) Insanity Pure Cardio & Double Header Softball Game. Again it was tough for the workouts as I was still burning through the junk I had in my body. We split the softball games that night. Next week starts playoffs.

Thursday (8/6/09) Insanity Cardio Recovery – Felt a little better and was almost able to finish the workout. Even though you do not move a lot in this one the balancing makes it pretty tough. There are a lot of yoga like moves involved in this. My legs were on fire. A couple hours later I went for a 4 mile run as I still had a bunch of energy to burn through.

Friday (8/7/09) Insanity Cardio Power & Resistance – I had a very good workout today. Felt like I was back on track. I was able to do more moving push ups then last week, but was not able to finish without taking a break.

Saturday (8/8/09) Day Off – Went boating with friends. Was supposed to go golfing but was rained out. So instead we went boating on Lake St. Clair and while the conditions were just as crappy we were able to make it out to Raft Off or what we called it “Rain Off.” We made the best of it.

Sunday (8/9/09) Day Off – Was exhausted from the day before.

While I was able to get in a bunch of workouts this week it almost felt like I was starting over for the time off last week. The Insanity workout routine is proving to be very challenging. I have not been able to finish any of the workouts without taking a break yet.

Is Team Beachbody The Best Free Online Dating Site?

August 6, 2009 - Updated August 6, 2009

Internet DatingSomething occurred to me the other day while I was looking at my buddy pictures in my Team Beachbody account. There are a lot of people showing off a ton of skin and really being honest about who they are as a person. While the whole goal of Team Beachbody is to promote living a healthy lifestyle I started thinking if this could be the best free online dating website. Get a Free Beachbody Account right now to know what I’m talking about.

While I was not looking for a date as I have a girlfriend, but you can’t not look. The before and after photos people put up about themselves from using a Beachbody workout program like P90X are awesome. Even better is reading their story why they decided to get in shape. The reasons are all different but you get a real feel for the person.

I have not used a dating website myself but from what I hear the biggest complaint is that people put up other, more attractive people’s photos to get you to contact them. Then when you go to meet them they look nothing like the photo and there you are in a awkward situation. If you do decide to stay you get to know that the person also lied about what they do for a living, if they have 7 kids from different dads (or moms), and then you end up being the a-hole if you decide to leave early.

With Team Beachbody you do not want to lie about anything on your profile. Why is that? It’s because your photos can be submitted by any member for having the best body transformation. If you win, a employee from Beachbody will be sent to your house to interview you on why you decided to get in shape and to get to know you. If they show up at your door and you are not the person in the photos then good bye prize. The monthly prize is $1,000 and they have a quarterly $10,000 prize. Even better is all of those people who won are entered into a $25,000 annual prize given away at a big event. I hope you see why it only helps to tell the truth.

Then you have the people who are a Beachbody Coach like myself. These are the people who have signed up for the 25% discount on products and for the opportunity to earn money while getting in shape. The last thing these people want to do is lie about who they are, what they do, and if they are using the Beachbody products or not. They do not want Beachbody showing up on their doorstep to give them the Top Coach of the Year award and your photos and everything you say about yourself is false. Hopefully Beachbody has some guidelines that say if you are a fraud they do not have to pay you the $10k prize, give you a trophy, and send you to Hawaii for the grand prize trip.

So how is this a dating website? Well, it really is not a dating site but it is a place for people to connect with others who are trying to get into shape and live a healthier lifestyle. Don’t we all want that? To be able to check people out you need to get a Free Beachbody Account. After signing up, go and look around in the member gallery under the “Connect” tab. You can search by gender and age. Once inside it is just like any other social networking site like Facebook or MySpace. You can make friends, comment, or send messages. Don’t get creepy though as you can get blocked.

While people are not pre-screened to see if they match any of their 29 dimensions of compatibility you will at least know what they look like. Maybe while you are inside you realize that you should be getting your butt in shape like the people you are checking out. Beachbody has tons of home workout programs available for every person regardless of your fitness level.

Workout Review For 7-27-09 To 8-2-09

August 5, 2009 - Updated August 5, 2009

Monday (7/27/09) Day Off – I got a little bit too much sun the day before out on my buddies boat watching the Off Shore Boat Racing going on in front of Metro Beach. I had no energy to workout today.

Tuesday (7/28/09) Insanity Pure Cardio – After taking a day off I had more than enough energy to get back at it. I was not able to finish the workout again but was very tough.

Wednesday (7/29/09) Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit & Double Header Softball Game – It was my second time doing this workout and I did much better. I did not finish it but I felt pretty good going to my softball game later that night. I struggled in the field and at the plate in the first game. I was asked to play left field as our normal guy was hurting. I made two errors that cost us 3 runs and only got 1 hit. We ended up coming back by 9 down to take the lead and win. In the second game I played third base and did much better. My bat improved too. We were down by 5 runs in the last inning and I lead it off with a infield single and ended up scoring. We were able to get through the order and back to me with 2 outs, game tied, and men on first and second. They walked the guy ahead of me to get to me. I ended up hitting it up the middle allowing our guy on second to score the game winning run. It felt good to make up for my blunders in the first game with a 4 for 5 performance, 3 runs, and 3 rbi’s.

Thursday (7/30/09) Insanity Cardio Power And Resistance – I was very sore from the previous days activities and could only make it half way through before I had to stop. I was exhausted from all the running and jumping.

Illinois State ParkFriday (7/31/09) Day Off – Went to my girlfriends family reunion at Illinois State Park in Zion, Illinois. Spent 6 hours in the car driving from Detroit to there. I could not imagine living there and dealing with traffic. It was bumper to bumper at noon. What does rush hour look like? When we arrived we checked in and went down to the beach. The water was cold as hell and flat. I could only get in to about my waist before my legs started turning red.

Saturday (8/1/09) Day Off – Hung out at the pool as it was raining.

Sunday (8/2/09) Day Off – Went back down to the beach and went camping for our last night at the park.

I do have a confession to make. I ate fast food from Wendy’s. This was the second time in 4 years that I ate from either McDonalds, Burger King, or Wendy’s. My girlfriends brother and sister-in-law eat it a lot and thought nothing of it. I decided to give it a shot as a test to see what happens. Last time I had it was at a McDonalds in po-dunk Oregon after a ski trip at Mt. Hood. I did not even make it out of the restaurant before having to go to the bathroom.

Even though I have had fast food like food at other restaurants in the last couple of years they were not fast food places. I decided to go with the hamburger and fries. After reading some of that book called Eat This Not That I knew it was my best choice. The same results from Oregon happened though. It proves to me that food from these restaurants has no nutritional value as it did not even stay in my stomach for more than 15 minutes.

With the couple days I took off I hope I can cover over the progress I had doing the Insanity workout. There were things going on the whole time we were on the trip. Maybe I needed a couple days off as it has been some time since I had more than two in a row. I called up my college buddy Nate who lives on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois. He met us up at the hotel. He started P90X three weeks ago and has already lost 10 pounds. He said he really likes it and looks good.
