Before I get into the business stuff you need to know I was a customer of Beachbody before I became a coach. This is important for you to know because customers make the best coaches.
A friend told me about P90X in 2007 and I was hooked. P90X was put together so well and was a lot of fun. I did three rounds of P90X in 2008 before learning about the Beachbody Coach opportunity in early 2009.
Wish I would have heard about being a Beachbody Coach sooner as many of my friends and family members saw my results and asked me what I was doing to get in shape. My story is different as I did not lose weight doing P90X. I was a “skinny fat” runner who ended up putting on 10 pounds of muscle, cutting body fat, and was as fit as I’ve ever been.
Friends approached me asking what I was doing to get in such great shape. I told them P90X and where to buy it. Since I was not a Beachbody Coach at the time I did not earn any money by referring them to Beachbody. For fun I went to Google and typed “make money with P90X” and “P90X affiliate program”.
This was late 2008 and a few sparse results for “Beachbody Coach” showed up. At the time, Beachbody was working their “Million Dollar Body” angle so it was a bit confusing what was going on. Since the Beachbody Coach opportunity was only a year old (launched in 2007) there was not a lot of good information floating around. Most of it was confusing.
From what I gathered it was tied into network marketing which I knew nothing about. What did make sense to me was the 25% discounts on products and making money referring people to buy P90X. Doing some quick math in my head I figured if I was involved as a coach I would have earned at least $700 referring friends and family.
Of course I wish I would have earned the money but I still signed up for the 25% discount on the products and went to work learning how to be a Beachbody Coach. Basically I continued to use Beachbody products and share my results with others. (Beachbody Coach Business Opportunity Video)
At the time I was unemployed and trying to learn affiliate marketing. This is where you build websites around niches, display products, and refer traffic to the companies website. If the person buys something on the site you get a commission. While I was having a few small successes here and there I did not expect this one to take off like it did.
I had been blogging for six months about my experience with P90X before signing up as a coach. While P90X had been out since 2003 it had not reached the cult like following til 2010. My website started to receive traffic in mid 2009.
By signing up to be a coach I could now place links to P90X on my site. To my disbelief people started buying P90X through my links. Out of all the websites I was working on the last one I thought would make any money was the one where I wrote about me doing P90X. Turns out, people like authenticity.
The rest they say is history.
To be honest, I’ve never liked the title of “Coach” because what or who is it I am coaching? The year prior to signing up as a coach I did P90X and not once did I feel like I needed someone to “coach” or motivate me through it.
Tony Horton provided enough direction and motivation in each workout to cover those. How simpler can it be to do P90X or any other Beachbody workout? Read the guidebook, follow the workout calendar, put in the DVD, and press play. Thats it.
To me, its kind of a slap in the face to the trainers and Beachbody for a “coach” to take the credit for one of their customers getting into shape. For me, its always been about getting in shape. I have helped hundreds of people pick a workout and check in with them to see how they’re progressing like how a friend would do. But at no time was I “coaching” them.
Saying all that I can say the business side of being a coach has been something to say the least. Never thought it would turn into what it did.
Beachbody Coach Success
One of my biggest accomplishments of being a Beachbody Coach was the first one I received. I won the Top Beachbody Coach contest for region 5 in summer of 2009. How things worked in 2009 was they had quarterly contests for 5 regions of the United States. What that means is there were 5 top coaches every quarter for a total of 20 in 2009. Whoever accrued the most points in 2009 became the “Top Top Coach” (best description I could think of).
A year prior I was wondering what I would be doing for a job and now here I am getting a trophy for telling people what I do to get and stay in shape. That’s it.
With a week or two left in the contest my girlfriend kept reminding me I was in first place and it looked like I was going to win. She was more excited about it then I was. I’m one of those people who has a “it ain’t over yet” philosophy and knew somebody could come out of the wood works to pass me up.
The worst part was when the contest ended. There was a 30 day waiting period to count up the results. I had no clue why it would take so long until I went to the Game Plan Event and was told that they had to take into consideration returns from sales.

I had a feeling I was going to win and took a minute to inform CEO Carl Daikeler about it. He was walking by me at dinner the first night at the event and I introduced myself. He asked if we had met at the Coach Summit a year ago. I told him no but that I was expecting a phone call from him about two weeks later saying I was the Top Coach for Region 5. He laughed. I told him I was not joking.
The call came and of course I missed it. I also missed the call from Larry Zimberg. Good job Brad! They announced my name and the other winners on a video in which they mispronounced my name and misspelled it too. Thanks guys. My friends made fun of me for that for about a week.
Now comes the cool part. The winner gets a all expenses paid trip to Kauai, Hawaii.I’ve been to Hawaii when I was younger with mom and dad and that was cool, but this will be different as I earned it this time.
The St. Regis in Princeville is a 5 Star Resort and it looks Bad Ass. As a extra bonus they are going to pay for a excursion of my choice. I love to golf but am thinking I have to go scuba diving as we don’t have oceans here in Michigan but we do have plenty of golf courses. I have a couple months to decide on that issue.
Besides that, I’m just excited to finally see a result come from all of the hard work I’ve put in with getting my butt in shape with P90X and Insanity to go along with my efforts with the business side of being a Beachbody Coach.
In nine months I was earning enough money as a Beachbody Coach that I stopped looking for work. Being honest with myself, I gave up looking for work after I saw the first $30 commission from selling P90X.
It was not easy though. Most days I spent 10 hours on my computer blogging about P90X and reaching out to others on the internet who were talking about it too.
I’m so happy I found out about this opportunity. I don’t know of any company that wants you to live a healthy lifestyle by using their products and will reward you for sharing it with others. Thanks Beachbody!

Beachbody Coach Rank Advancements
Beachbody Trainers & Executives

The trainers are exactly like what they are in the videos. P90X trainer Tony Horton is cracking jokes all the time. Shaun T from the Insanity workout is intense and always teaching the importance of good form. Chalene Johnson from Turbo Fire is full of energy. Brett Hoebel from RevAbs and the Biggest Loser has this natural coolness that I’m kind of jealous of.
Doing the workouts with them is a whole lot different than following on a dvd as they are correcting your every move. Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler is the passionate guy behind all of this. Its easy to see how much he truly cares about ending the trend of obesity going in our world.

Beachbody Coach Best Things: 2017 Edition
There are so many answers you could give to this question and I feel it depends on where you are with your journey as a coach. Just starting? Then its the discounts. Made your first sale or sponsored your first coach? Then its the possibility of making money and the discounts. Qualified for your first trip? Then its the travel, making money, and the discounts. Going full time? Then its quitting your job, the travel, making money, and the discounts. All of these are achievable.
Being a coach since 2009 I can say now its about time. In the beginning I put a lot of time into the coach business because I was unemployed and had the time. When I made the first sale it was all the motivation I needed. The trips, awards, and recognition followed.

At some point I realized I was making enough money to cover my expenses and save quite a bit of money. What I also realized was I had time to do things. Like going golfing in the middle of the week. Courses are empty during the week and greens fees are half off.
Traveling when I wanted to without having to ask a boss for time off. Going to a Detroit Tigers afternoon game with friends who have the day off from work. Not missing softball games because of work. Going with my Mom to a 5 hour rehearsal on a Wednesday for Kid Rock’s halftime show at the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day Game. Things like that.
I could make time to do all of these things because of the flexibility of being a Beachbody Coach.
During year 5 of being a coach I became a dad followed by being a dad again in year 6. Yes – we’ve been busy. What the income from Beachbody allowed me to do was stay home with both of our babies a couple of days a week the first 14 months of each of their lives and the other days we had them in daycare. Did I ever learn some things about parenting. Early results say the time spent together has created a close bond.
It also gave me the time to spend with my dad during his last 18 months of life. Even though we were figuring out the whole parenting thing I was able to go golfing during the week with my mom and dad the days we had the kids in daycare. It gave me time to make every family function. It gave me time to go help them with things. All because of the time I put into being a Beachbody Coach seven years prior.
Even though my income as a Beachbody Coach went down the three years we’ve been raising babies it still is a good enough income where it allows us to have pretty much the same lifestyle as before due to the time I put into it in the beginning. The massive amounts of time babies demand is remarkable. Yes – if you are not putting in the time to grow or maintain your Beachbody Coach business then unsurprisingly your income will go down.
And that is where I am at with my journey as a Beachbody Coach. Time.
And with that time there are the possibilities to fine tune how you do your coach business, do other projects, spend more time with your family, or heck – go get that fun job you always wanted.
What Is A Beachbody Coach?
Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler says its perfectly. “They are not fitness or nutritional experts. These are people who simply love the products and love sharing them with people because they actually work.” I am not a fitness expert. All I did to achieve my results was buy a workout program and follow the plan. That’s it. From there, I went and shared the products with my inner circle. I was “Coaching” before I even became a Beachbody Coach.

Gym Owners & Personal Trainers
Regardless if you’re a personal trainer for a big gym or own your own place. You can only train so many hours a day. Even if you’re one of the best trainers in the area you live in you will eventually reach the highest price point you can charge. So how do you keep on growing the business? You could take out loans and build your own gym but that gets costly. Maybe charge other trainers how to train in groups but that gets away from training.
As a coach you could “train” as many people as you want in the same amount of time as you train one person. What do I mean? Most personal trainers do 1 on 1 sessions. All of the Beachbody workouts come with a workout guide, nutrition plan, and calendar showing what days to workout on. The trainers in the DVD show how to modify the moves. All of your work is already being done for you. Your only job is to tell them what to read, what to buy, and choose a start date.
The biggest hurdles personal trainers face is when clients cancel, go on vacation, or get injured. I’m sure gyms have different products they offer to clients and maybe the trainers have the potential to sell nutritional products. But what if they don’t and what if business isn’t going so well and you have to quit or close your gym? As a coach you can recommend all of the nutritional products and anything else in the Beachbody Store. I order Shakeology monthly and occasionally items from the Beachbody Performance line.
Recommended these products and earn $30+ every month from your clients. Work once, get paid many times. You don’t have to keep anything in stock and Beachbody handles customer service and shipping. You just need to send a link to your client. I’m sure some gyms have a non-compete clause if they sell their own product line but if they don’t then why not tell your clients to buy from you. If you run a small gym then recommend the Beachbody products on the side.
I have spoken with personal trainers and small gym owners who say that while they bring in more revenue from those businesses they actually earn more take home money from being a coach as the costs of running their own gym are high. With it being $39 to sign up and $16 a month afterwards, the costs of being a coach are low. You’ll probably spend more than that every month for 1 cell phone bill owning your gym.
If you are a personal trainer or own a small gym then I hope this helps you see why you should become a Beachbody Coach. This is a way for you to piggy back off the success of the branding Beachbody has done and build a business that is not concentrated on the local economy. It also lets you grow outside of your local area as you can do all of this over the internet if you want. You don’t have to stop doing 1 on 1 sessions as there are still going to be people who need somebody watching over their every move. What this really does is help you do what you really want to do in the first place. Help even more people.
Beachbody Coach Costs
Just like with any business there are some startup fees. The good news is they are very low. There is a one time $39.95 sign up fee and then its $15.95 a month afterwards to be a Beachbody Coach. You get three websites (general Beachbody Coach, Shakeology, and Ultimate Reset) to send people to. The $15.95 also covers warehousing, shipping, customer service, and inventory. All of the things you do not want to deal with. All you do is send people to those sites and Beachbody handles the rest. Here is what they look like.
Required To Buy Anything?
No, but you should. Beachbody gives you a 25% discount on all of their products so you should at the very least buy Shakeology on auto shipment for free shipping. I buy Shakeology every month and the Beachbody Performance line every three months. They have made a big difference in my workout results. The discount alone covers the $16 a month fee to be a Beachbody Coach. In my opinion, Shakeology is Beachbody’s best product.
Is This A Pyramid Scheme?
No. This is a business opportunity where we sell real products.
How To Make Money As A Beachbody Coach?
Yes. However, this is not a get rich quick scheme. Its going to take time. The business part of being a Beachbody Coach is just like doing P90X. You get out of it what you put into it. The good news is that its only $39 to start and $16 a month afterwards. You don’t need to worry about a lot of expenses while trying to build your business. Most do this in their part time as they already have a full time job. Here’s a couple snapshots of my earnings from my first month to over the past two years. The first one shows my first month as a Beachbody Coach. Most of my sales were from friends or family. The second and third are sales and bonuses. The beginning of the year is when people are making their New Years Resolutions so business is typically better.
My goal with showing you my commission checks is to impress upon you that the Beachbody Coach business opportunity is real. You can tell from my earnings that it did not happen over night for me. At the same time you need to know I was unemployed at the time without many options. I decided to learn as much as I could and apply those things over the next nine months. The first six months were a real challenge but I stuck with it and kept growing. If you have a full time job and full time life then these earnings through the Beachbody Coach opportunity might take a little longer. Reason being is I was spending 50 hours a week learning and applying. Most people can only put in 5 hours a week on top of doing the workouts. No need to fear. The business will follow. I just wanted to give you realistic expectations.
Stuff Only A Beachbody Coach Can See
The video below shows how the customer lead program works to and why its so important to make Emerald Coach as soon as possible. You’ll hear me in the video talking about sponsoring new coaches under older coaches and how I will do that for you too. (I no longer do this as people rely on me to do the business for them.) What I do now is train you how to build a successful Beachbody Coach business and support you as you go. This way we are setting you up for success instead of a big let down. I made this video in 2009 so its a little old but the principles are still the same. You will see my earnings from when I signed up in 2009, how the compensation plan works, the 25% discount on products, how to maintain an active status, and how this business can start to grow away from you the longer you stick with it.
Why Join My Team Of Beachbody Coaches?
My earnings and awards above should show you that I am very serious and have lots of experience in building a successful Beachbody Coach business. The good news for you is I went through a year of trial and error finding the best ways to build a solid business and will share everything I know with you. That means guides, videos, slideshows, presentations, etc. I have it all. There are many different ways to do this business including online / offline marketing, social media, and person to person. What we will do together is find out what way works the best for you and your schedule. Plus, you’ll have access to me on a daily basis as I do this full time.
You Need A Good Support Team
What I like the most about being a Beachbody Coach is how supportive everybody is with achieving their physical and financial goals. When you join to be a Beachbody Coach with me you will be introduced my own mini team called Team Epic. There are currently 165 Coaches in this group from all over the country. We share our struggles, successes, road blocks, and insight via our Team Epic Facebook Group. Post a question and you’ll probably have it answered in 15 minutes. This is very helpful for you when you start bringing in new coaches of your own. Nobody is left out. This is a team concept so “sharing is caring.”
The Beachbody Coach business opportunity is the best business experience I have ever seen as you get to help others take care of their physical health while working on your financial health. This is the only business opportunity where every single person you meet, know, or talk to can benefit from one of Beachbody’s products. This is a huge advantage when building a business as you get to piggyback of the millions of dollars of advertising Beachbody spends every year. When somebody asks what would be your ideal job or career and your answer is “I want to help people” then I can think of nothing better than being a Beachbody Coach.
