**My 2nd round of the Beachbody Ultimate Reset was completed 1-26-14. I originally added this to my first review of the Ultimate Reset from 2012 but decided to clean things up and give it its own post.**
So I just finished my second round of the Beachbody Ultimate Reset. Its been two years since I finished my first round and its time to share my results. This review is not going to be as in depth as the first review because some of the things like the grocery bill and and how I felt through each phase were about the same. I am almost 34 years old and my body has gone through a number of changes since then. First being my weight and build.
After finishing my first round of the Ultimate Reset I felt weak and lightweight. It was the first time in awhile where I felt great but not so strong. The Body Beast workout had just been released and I thought it would be a great idea to bulk up. Little did I know I would put on 24 pounds and reshape my body. I went from 180 pounds to 204 pounds due to Body Beast and felt uncomfortable in my skin. Over the past year and a half I’ve been hanging out in the 193 weight range due to me doing more strength training and less cardio. Particularly a lot of swimming and an entire full round of original P90X two months prior to this.
I Needed The Reset
Over the past 6 months I have picked up and or accelerated a lot of bad eating and drinking habits. My metabolism is not what it used to be and since I’m doing less cardio the weight has not gone away. I just didn’t feel healthy anymore. Even though I was still working out and drinking Shakeology everyday I was not feeling all that great. So I decided in November 2013 to start the reset Jan. 2014. This way I would also get rid of all the crap I was going to eat and drink over the holidays.
I Ordered The Ultimate Reset Kit
And noticed just a few subtle changes with the meal plan and a new supplement called Soothe which I believe replaced the Oxygenize bottle from the original kit. I didn’t notice any new meals which was nice because I became very familiar with cooking them during my first round and we would occasionally cook them in the past year. The biggest thing that stuck out was it appeared Beachbody updated the structure of the meal plan so whatever you have for dinner that night you have for lunch the next day. This saved a ton of prep time as you could just make double for dinner.
I Didn’t Get All Psycho
With measuring things out to a T like I did the first round. Well, maybe except for the salad dressings. Besides that I would picture what a cup, tablespoon, or teaspoon measurement was and throw it into the recipe. This made it so much easier to cook and clean up was half the time. And when I didn’t feel like making a meal I didn’t like I would just make something I did. Probably did this five times. Everything I did make came from the Ultimate Reset meal plan and from the phase I was on.
This Round Was Different
In so much that my body lost equal amounts of weight in each phase unlike where I lost most of my weight in the first round during the first phase. In the 1st round I felt the effects of withdrawal during the 1st and 2nd phases but felt very good during the 1st phase. This time I didn’t do so well in the first week but felt great the second two. Like really good.
I Have Reason To Believe
My body was more achey and sluggish during the first round because it was the first time in my life doing a cleanse type program. My body was processing 20ish years of junk that was stuck in my system. It was the first time I had ever ate so clean and given up so many of the things I had been accustomed to eating.
This time it had only been 18 months since the 1st round of cleaning out the system and even though I was much heavier (found out I went overboard on the Body Beast supplements) this time it was mainly due to overeating better foods and not being active as much. So I did not have the same withdrawal effects this time.
I went swimming 4 times during this round. Only did a half a mile each time but even in the water I felt lighter and stronger. Was planning to continue on with P90X3 as I was on the second week when starting but something inside of me just didn’t want to as I was struggling with the workouts at the heavier weight. Whats interesting is my body felt like it was working out the entire round just from eating right. Was kind of weird.
So What Were My Results?
Day 1 – 199 pounds
Day 22 – 187.8
11.2 pounds lost. Not bad. I was guessing I’d lose 15 pounds this round since I was nearly that much heavier this time then during my first round. I didn’t take my body fat %, measurements, or blood work this time but can tell you that my pants and shirts are much looser now. Not sure if all of the strength training had something to do with it or not. From the looks of my before and after photos it looks like I lost some inches around my waist and there’s a little bit more definition showing in my arms. I didn’t expect to see large changes because if I’m guessing 5 pounds of the weight I lost was weight I put on between Christmas and New Years.
Beachbody Ultimate Reset Round 2 Recap
Since I knew what to expect going into round two it did make a lot of this much easier to do. I’m a lot more efficient in the kitchen due to learning a lot in the first round. Plus I knew what I liked and wasn’t going to make things that I didn’t enjoy just to be able to write a review.
I mainly wanted this round to be about starting 2014 fresh and giving myself a break from some bad habits I picked up in 2013. Mainly just expecting my metabolism to burn off excess weight. That just doesn’t happen anymore and being honest I am about half as active doing things outside of working out. Sitting on my butt all day working for the 5th year in a row isn’t helping out either.
I feel that the month of January is going to be my reset month from now on. Its a very slow month for me and it gives me time to start training in February for the things I like to do without feeling all rushed to get into shape like I did when doing the first round in March.
